Sheila at Book Journey has been a blogger that I have followed for years. She was one of the first that I followed and is part of my inspiration to start blogging. She announced her first book of the year initiative and I wanted to join this year!
My first book of 2016 is The Girls' Guide to Hunting and Fishing by Melissa Bank. This is the book I have had on my shelves the longest, since May 2010, so it will be my first read of this year.
The reason I am doing this is symbolic, I want to start the year this way because I want to do more of this this year - reading off my shelf that has gotten a little ridiculous!
So as much as I love to read the latest and greatest, I want to read what has been sitting on my shelves and what I know I have been wanting to read for years!
This is the 2nd year I'm participating and both years I've picked books off my shelf...this year, my book has been sitting there for 2 years! Happy New Year Kristin!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year. I want to read my shelf but I am definitely a Kindle reader now. Enjoy
ReplyDeleteI read The Girls Guide to Fishing and Hunting and it was pretty good. Happy reading to you in 2016!!
ReplyDeleteI read this one ages ago...I can't remember what it was about, but I do remember that I liked it. I hope you enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteI, too, am trying to read more of the books I've had on my TBR shelves for a few years. Therefore, I will not be joining any challenges this year. I will only be challenging myself to read more of the books I already have. Happy Reading in 2016.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoy it! I'm trying to read off my own shelf more this year too. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI picked a book off my shelf as well this year for much the same reason. I'm starting to get overrun! Hope you enjoy it! I've heard of it but never read it.
ReplyDeleteSeems like many readers are reaching onto their shelves this year. This sounds interesting although I take it it is not literally about hunting and fishing! Enjoy and a very happy new year.
ReplyDeleteI have the same goal of reading more of my own books this year. Good luck to us all!
ReplyDeleteAhhh thanks, I did not know I inspired you to blog. That is cool. :) Enjoy the first book -another one I need to read.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice! I need to start trying to clear of my shelves too. Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteI think our TBR shelves are the hardest challenge to finish! Happy 2016 Reading to you!
ReplyDeleteQuite a few folks did that this year with books that have been on their shelves.
ReplyDeleteENJOY, and Happy New Year!!
