Goodreads: The first rule of afternoon tea: never rush. Take time to savor it. Just like friendship…
The Seafront Tearoom is an insider secret in small-town Scarborough – a beach-front haven with the best tea and cakes in town – and journalist Charlie Harrison would love to put it on the map with a feature in her magazine. But single mom Kat Murray doesn’t want to see her favorite sanctuary overrun by tourists, and begs Charlie to seek out other options. She offers her help, as a “tea obsessive,” and so does French au pair Séraphine Moreau, whose upbringing makes her a connoisseur of everything sweet and indulgent.
Together the three women will scour the countryside for quaint hideaways and hidden gems, sharing along the way their secrets, disappointments, and dreams – and discovering that friendship, like tea, takes time to steep. But learning too that once you open your heart, the possibilities are endless.
Kritters Thoughts: Three women who's lives wouldn't seem to intersect do in the small tearoom in Scarborough in the UK. Each woman is dealing with something and through their friendships they can help each other find resolution in the situation that they are each in.
The book started with each women having their own chapters introducing themselves and their storylines and the reader isn't sure how this is all going to come together, but thankfully it quickly comes together and the women meet and then get on with the adventure together. The author did a good balance of each woman having something they were dealing with, but nothing was over the top.
There wasn't a particular that stood out that didn't work for me, I just had an overwhelming feeling while reading that this book was just ok for me. I didn't have one moment in this book that took my breath away or made me just stop and fall in love with it.
This was a slow quiet read and for some reason it was fine, but not great for me. I wouldn't count this author out, but this book didn't put her on my auto buy list.
Rating: enjoyable, but didn't leave me wanting more
