Goodreads:  There are secrets you share, and secrets you hide…

Growing up on her family’s Sonoma vineyard, Georgia Ford learned some important secrets. The secret number of grapes it takes to make a bottle of wine: eight hundred. The secret ingredient in her mother’s lasagna: chocolate. The secret behind ending a fight: hold hands.

But just a week before her wedding, thirty-year-old Georgia discovers her beloved fiancé has been keeping a secret so explosive, it will change their lives forever.

Georgia does what she’s always done: she returns to the family vineyard, expecting the comfort of her long-married parents, and her brothers, and everything familiar. But it turns out her fiancé is not the only one who’s been keeping secrets…

Kritters Thoughts:  A fantastic family drama!  Georgia, the youngest of three heads back to her parents vineyard to escape some drama that unexpectedly came into her life.  She returns home and everyone in her family - her twin brothers and her parents all have drama of their own and some are known and some are kept as secrets, but in this tight knit family, secrets don't last long.

I absolutely adored this book from beginning to end.  Georgia was a great character and was easy to fall in love with.  Although she is the main character, I felt like the author built a great main character, but the large cast of secondary characters were all fantastic.  There wasn't one character that I didn't love reading.

The other thing that really set this book apart for me was the setting.  A family who's world has revolved around this vineyard and in this book the vineyard is a character of its own.  I got married at a vineyard so I am already a fan and to read about the whole process was so great to read.  I loved hearing about the "busy season" or harvest and how this whole family was affected by the seasons of the vineyard.

I read this book in one day in two sittings and had the hardest time putting it down!  I already own some other books by Laura Dave and they have now sky rocketed up my TBR pile!

Rating: absolutely loved it and want a sequel

  2. I've been wanting to read this one. Got rejected on NetGalley, but put it on hold at my library. At least then I don;t have to write a review if I don;t want to. Looking forward to it, as I love books set at vineyards or farms.
