Goodreads:  When Annabel, a police analyst, discovers her neighbour’s decomposing body in the house next door, she’s appalled to think that no one, including herself, noticed that anything was wrong.

Back at work, she feels compelled to investigate, despite her colleagues' lack of interest, and finds data showing that such cases are common – too common – in her home town. As she’s drawn deeper into the mystery and becomes convinced she’s on the trail of a killer, she also must face her own demons and her own mortality. Would anyone notice if she just disappeared?

Kritters Thoughts:  There are many reasons why a person could start feeling very lonely and start to avoid social interactions, but this book took these feelings and amplified them with a predator and a prey.  With an interesting twist by allowing the reader to read through the mind of the "killer", this book was set on a different level.  It didn't take me long to get the characters straight and quickly follow the investigation as they slowly figured out what all was going on in their community.

Although extremely creepy and sad, the most interesting part was the news articles when the people were found followed by their reasoning for wanting to end their lives.  There are many things that can happen in one's lifetime that may deflate their spirits and I was intrigued by all of these people's reasons and their inability to find someone to take them out of their funk.

A definite mystery thriller for fans of the genre, but those with a weak stomach may want to stay away from this one.  This one made me thankful that although I may be home alone on some nights, I do not live alone!

Rating: definitely a good read, but can't read two in a row
