Goodreads:  Swann's last case nearly killed him, emotionally and physically. Now he's sworn off his old profession and taken on a steady gig. But climbing stairs to hook poor people up to cable is hard on his knees... and not the kind of connections he's good at making. So when an opportunity arises to bring order to chaos for a price--his secret pleasure in life--Swann is pulled back in.

The case starts simply, with a call to find a burglary suspect who's gone on the lam. But the twists and turns will take him right to the dizzying top of America's ivory towers.

Swann is soon on the trail of a wealthy lawyer's rebellious daughter, who's disappeared along with her disreputable boyfriend. Finding the beau--an intellectual and amoral trickster--leads him into the dangerous midst of cutthroat academics, sexy librarians, and killer book collectors, with a priceless first edition of Tender is the Night the surprising prize along the way.

Kritters Thoughts:  Hired to find a daughter, but ending up on an adventure from New York to Boston to London where trying to find the boyfriend and a book may eventually lead this detective into the hands of the daughter in question.  I loved this book from page one, I was excited to go on this journey to find out where this daughter had ended up and why she was avoiding her father.

Swann was a fun character to follow and I am definitely headed to find the other mystery that he takes centerstage in - Swann's Last Song.  I thoroughly enjoyed how each person gave a part of the story, but in the end he had to link it all together to find the girl and find out why she wasn't speaking with her father.  It made the mystery even more mysterious!  Although I felt like there were some unanswered questions, I was satisfied with the conclusion of the book.

No murder mystery, but definitely a fantastic adventure to find this girl who has become estranged with her father.  If you are a mystery reader who needs a little murder, this book won't have it, but if you are a reader who enjoys a little hunt for the truth then you should go

Rating: definitely a good read, but can't read two in a row
